Sherry’s passion for drawing and painting began in high school, with every free period devoted to art. A realistic foundation was drilled into her at that time which has definitely helped in developing who she is today as an artist. Being taught in the traditional method, has allowed her the discipline and focus to evolve and push herself where she is today - having the freedom to paint what she feels.
Currently, her focus is abstract expressionism, working in both acrylic and oil. Sherry finds the freedom of painting strokes of emotion on a canvas in abstraction exhilarating. The movement of the paint; the energy and feeling it exudes is what she strives for everyday in the studio.
“I’ve always been drawn to Matisse and Pollock for their lack of fear; their bold strokes - be it in blocks, lines or color. Their willingness to evolve into who they were as artists is what led them to greatness.”
